Blyth run out 6-1 winners with ruthless second half display against a determined Seghill side.
A slow start to the game for the second time this season allowed for a couple of chances from the home side, Middlemass had a point blank header saved brilliantly from Cal Straker who was making his debut for the club in the league. Another chance came the way of the home side following a mix up in the back line Middlemass driving through and getting his shot off which was finely saved once again.
Blyth then settled into the game Priest and Farrell both having efforts at goal. On 17 mintues the deadlock was broken, good build up play before Farrell jinked his way past fullback and centre half before riffling a left footed shot into the top corner from the 18 yard line.
A mistake from the away keeper keeper allowed for another Seghill chance which looked destined for the net with Straker stranded only for Roberts to provide a crucial goal line headed clearance, still 0-1.
21 minutes played and a threatening cross from Page (who was starting his first game for the club) landed at the feet of Moscrop who shot wide. Another chance for Moscrop when played through by Farrell, just dragged wide.
Just before half time Page had the chance for a first goal for the club, following a Priest throw in Egdell was able to salvage a hooked ball across the box only for Page to blaze over from 5 yards.
Half time 1-0 to Blyth.
Defensive mix up between centre half and keeper allowed the quick Middlemass to nip in and touch past the keeper into the open net. 46 played 1-1.
The Seghill equaliser proving to be their last meaningful attack of the game. Set piece specialist Reece Farrell placed a perfectly weighted corner onto the head of Moscrop to put the away side in front 4 minutes after Seghill drew level. 2-1 Blyth
55 minutes played and Page receives a deserved rest for his first half efforts, Hopwood replacing him for his first appearance in a Blyth shirt.
A confident start to the season saw Egdell get on the score sheet following his man of the match performance against Rothbury on Saturday. Driving down the left before cutting inside his man and curling one into the top left hand corner over the keepers head from the outside of his left boot. Fans left disappointed, no celebration. 3-1 Blyth
Hopwood almost earned himself a debut goal exchanging passes with Moscrop, who he did for the entire 35 he played, before his shot hit the right hand post before trickling across the goal line. Still 3-1 Blyth
Gibson and Rowsell both introduced just before the 70 minute mark and it took Gibson 4 minutes to add his 3rd goal of the season to his tally. Driving run from Moscrop past 1, 2, 3 defenders before his shot was saved by the keeper, leaving Gibson with a tap in. Calls for offside from the linesman, over ruled by the referee. 4-1 Blyth
Gibson almost turned provider stretching the home defence before slipping in Mosrop who bends his shot wide of the far post. Following sustained pressure from the home side another assist from Farrell allowed Richardson to tower over the opposing defence and extend Blyth’s lead to 5-1, 76 minutes played.
Fitzsimmons replaces Farrell before the restart and makes an immediate impact assisting Gibson for his second of the game.
Full time 6-1 Blyth. Reece Farrell with a man of the match performance, scoring 1 and assisting 2 more. Liam Gibson with 4 in 2 games coming in the 71, 73, 78 and 79 minutes, definitely an impact substitution.

We have faced Seghill 3 times in the Northern Alliance prior to last night’s fixture Blyth winning 2 and drawing 1. This fixture last season saw us come back from 1 nil and 10 men down with stand in keeper Jordan Fitzsimmons replacing our injured keeper just after half time. Conor Aisbitt earning us a point that day.
